The Orchestra a Fiati “Città di Muggia” will open the new year — and close a milestone season — with its traditional Epiphany concert on Jan. 6, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. at the Teatro Verdi, celebrating the ensemble’s 20th anniversary with a program that spans classical, popular and ceremonial music.

Titled “Venti d’armonia per venti befane!” (“Twenty Winds of Harmony for Twenty Befane”), the concert is intended both as a retrospective of the orchestra’s two decades of activity and as a symbolic beginning of its 2026 season, which will include a new regional tour under the banner La Musica è Luce (“Music Is Light”).

Founded in 2006, the Orchestra a Fiati “Città di Muggia” has grown into one of the most active wind ensembles in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. Today it brings together more than 50 musicians from Muggia, Trieste, the Gorizia area, and neighboring parts of Slovenia and Croatia, reflecting the cross-border musical culture of the northeastern Adriatic.

The Epiphany concert, which has become a fixture of Muggia’s cultural calendar, is organized with the support of the city’s Department of Culture, led by Councillor Nicola Delconte. The goal, city officials say, is to offer residents a high-level musical event that is both festive and accessible.

The orchestra will be conducted by Giacomo Sfetez, who has chosen a program designed to trace the ensemble’s artistic development over two decades. The repertoire will include works by Ottorino Respighi, John Philip Sousa, Ray Charles and Jan Van der Roost, combining symphonic music for winds, traditional marches and 20th-century popular classics.

The evening will also feature a guest appearance by Marzia Postogna, a vocalist who has collaborated with the orchestra on several occasions. Her performance, organizers say, will be a highlight of the anniversary concert.

As in past years, the first concert of the year in Muggia will be dedicated to Adelio Sfetez, founder of the city’s historic band and a central figure in the development of local musical life.

The concert is free of charge and open to the public. It is made possible by the Municipality of Muggia through its Department of Culture.
