For the first time, Trieste Trasporti will introduce a modified weekday, non-school transit schedule during the Christmas and New Year holiday period, reflecting the closure of schools across the region.

From December 23, 2025, through January 6, 2026, public transportation on Trieste’s urban network will operate under a “weekday non-scholastic” timetable. The change, authorized by the Friuli Venezia Giulia regional government, is intended to better align service levels with reduced demand during the school holidays, as established by the regional academic calendar.

On December 23 and 24; December 29, 30, and 31; and January 2 and 5, buses will follow the standard Saturday schedule, with one notable exception. Line 23—connecting Piazzale Wärtsilä in Dolina with Largo Città di Santos near the central railway station—will remain in service, despite normally not operating on Saturdays.

As in previous years, service on December 24 and December 31 will end earlier than usual, between 10:00 and 10:30 p.m., depending on the route.

On Saturdays, December 27, 2025, and January 3, 2026, the regular Saturday timetable will apply, without Line 23. On Sundays—December 28, 2025, and January 4, 2026—as well as on Epiphany (January 6), the standard holiday schedule will be in effect. A specific holiday timetable is planned for Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, with service running from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Updated schedules are available through the TPL FVG and MaaS FVG mobile applications, on the Trieste Trasporti website, and via the travel planner on the TPL FVG website.

The regular winter weekday schedule will resume on January 7, 2026.
