The City of Trieste has announced temporary traffic and parking restrictions in connection with the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur, which will be observed on October 1–2 at the Tempio Israelitico on Via San Francesco d’Assisi. City officials said the measures are intended to ensure safety and smooth operations during religious services expected to draw a large number of worshippers.
According to Ordinance No. 853-25, restrictions will be in effect from 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1, through 9 p.m. on Thursday, October 2, or until no longer needed. During this period, parking will be prohibited with vehicle removal enforced in several key areas: along both sides of Via Guido Zanetti, Via San Francesco d’Assisi between Piazza Virgilio Giotti and number 17, and throughout Piazza Virgilio Giotti. Vehicles left in violation will be subject to removal by authorities.
Exemptions will be granted for emergency vehicles, law enforcement, service vehicles connected with the events, and vehicles of people with disabilities carrying appropriate permits. Authorities on site may introduce additional measures or modifications as necessary to maintain security and public order.
The city said the temporary rules were coordinated with law enforcement and community representatives to accommodate the religious significance of Yom Kippur, considered the holiest day of the Jewish calendar.
