This week, visitors to the Museo Civico di Storia Naturale will have the chance to step back 80 million years into the prehistoric landscape of the Carso, where some of Europe’s most remarkable dinosaur fossils were unearthed.

From Wednesday, August 27, through Saturday, August 30, the museum will host morning sessions dedicated to Antonio and Bruno — two of the best-preserved dinosaur specimens ever discovered in Italy. The fossils, found at the Villaggio del Pescatore site in Duino Aurisina, belong to a species identified as Tethyshadros insularis, a genus new to science.

The sessions, held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., will be led by Mattia Greco, a university student and member of the cultural volunteer association Cittaviva. Fluent in both Italian and English, Mr. Greco will guide visitors through the paleontology halls of the museum, offering insights into the discovery, preservation, and scientific significance of the Carso dinosaurs.

The program is designed for audiences of all ages, with a particular focus on families and young visitors. Children will also have the opportunity to create plaster casts to take home, with the support of museum staff and volunteers.

The activity is included in the price of admission to the museum.
