Villa Manin will host the final installment of its children’s educational program linked to the exhibition Architetture Trasparenti on Sunday, August 24, at 5 p.m. The initiative, designed for children ages 6 to 10, combines art, play, and hands-on workshops in the historic setting of the 18th-century villa.

The program, Arteventi Didattica – Architetture Trasparenti, has introduced young visitors to contemporary art through interactive experiences that emphasize reflection, transparency, and movement. Each workshop has been tailored to encourage children not only to observe works of art but also to explore them physically and imaginatively.

Sunday’s session, titled Luce (“Light”), focuses on the interaction between light and art. Participants will explore works that experiment with reflections, shadows, and shifting perspectives before creating their own light-based compositions using colored acetates, transparent films, and layered shapes. The aim, organizers say, is to allow children to “become architects of light,” building pieces that change and transform under natural illumination.

The initiative accompanies Architetture Trasparenti, an exhibition open through October 26, curated by Guido Comis, director of Erpac’s cultural programs, together with Linda Carello and Daniele Capra. The show brings together 16 installations by international artists including Robert Irwin, Giulio Paolini, Jeppe Hein, and Dan Graham. The works invite visitors to experience art as a space to be entered and inhabited rather than observed from a distance, transforming perception through optical effects and architectural interventions.

“The exhibition is not something to be viewed from afar, but a context to inhabit, to traverse, to live,” Mr. Comis said.

Organized by the Regional Authority for Cultural Heritage of Friuli Venezia Giulia (Erpac), the exhibition is part of the GO! 2025 & Friends program celebrating Nova Gorica and Gorizia as the joint European Capital of Culture in 2025.

The cost of the workshop is €10 per child, with free admission to the exhibition included.
