While reports from across Italy describe a subdued summer season, with empty beaches and higher costs keeping some visitors away, Friuli Venezia Giulia’s seaside resorts are telling a different story.

In Lignano Sabbiadoro, among the region’s most popular destinations, beach operators say demand has been strong. A sign at one of the Lisagest-managed clubs recently read: “Sorry, we’re sold out.” After a July dampened by uncertain weather, August has brought crowded shores, largely fueled by visitors from Austria and Central Europe.

Similar resilience is seen along other stretches of the Friuli Venezia Giulia coast, from Grado to smaller local resorts, where operators note steady arrivals despite broader economic pressures. Industry representatives say contained prices have played a crucial role.,At beach kiosks and smaller concessions, many vendors have kept prices unchanged.

The strategy has been welcomed by many tourists, particularly those traveling from neighboring countries where holiday budgets are carefully considered. Still, opinions among visitors are mixed, with some noting that even limited price adjustments are felt.

For now, however, Friuli Venezia Giulia’s coast stands out in contrast to other Italian regions, where rising costs and shifting travel patterns have kept beaches quieter than expected.
