This weekend, San Giusto Castle will once again serve as the backdrop for the third installment of Le Stagioni delle Armi, a series of historical reenactments that bring centuries-old martial traditions back to life. Scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, August 9–10, the event is themed “With Sword and Musket” and will focus on the military culture of the 17th century.
Curated by the Compagnia d’Arme Malleus, a historical reenactment group founded in 1996, the weekend will feature demonstrations of period-specific dueling techniques, along with displays of meticulously recreated clothing and customs. The group’s work spans the historical period between 1470 and 1800, with particular attention to authenticity in both combat choreography and historical detail.
Set in the fortified surroundings of Trieste’s iconic castle, the event aims to offer visitors a glimpse into early modern European warfare and the everyday lives of soldiers from that era. Organizers say the reenactments are designed to educate and entertain, inviting guests to explore history not only through words and images, but through live performance and hands-on experience.
Le Stagioni delle Armi continues to be a cultural mainstay in the region, drawing history enthusiasts and families alike. The series will resume later this year with additional reenactment weekends spotlighting other historical periods and fighting traditions.
