The Civil Protection Agency of Friuli Venezia Giulia region has issued a yellow weather alert for hydrogeological risk, warning residents of potential flash flooding and hail due to severe thunderstorms forecast for Monday.
The alert is in effect from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. local time and covers the entire region, including both mountainous and lowland areas. Meteorologists are predicting intense rainfall and thunderstorms, which could lead to disruptions in urban drainage systems, minor waterways overflowing, and potential landslides in unstable areas.
Authorities have cautioned residents and visitors to remain vigilant, particularly in campgrounds and during outdoor events. Travel may also be affected due to possible road closures or delays.
This is the twelfth weather alert issued in Friuli Venezia Giulia in 2025. It follows a series of recent summer storms, some of which brought damaging hail that affected crops and infrastructure across the region.
Officials are urging the public to follow updates and heed any instructions from local emergency services.
