The summer cultural festival Trieste Estate 2025 will broaden its programming with new formats and a prestigious new venue. From Tuesday, July 15, through Thursday, July 17, the Giardini dei Musei Winckelmann e Sartorio—historic gardens tied to the city’s museum institutions—will host a series of public events, alongside activities in the central Piazza Verdi. All initiatives are free and open to the public.

A highlight of the expanded program is the opening of the long-running Archeologia di Sera (Evening Archaeology) series, taking place in the garden of the “J.J. Winckelmann” Museum of Antiquities. The museum, which has preserved historical artifacts related to the city’s ancient past since the 19th century, also houses a collection of sculptures, inscriptions, and gravestones from the medieval and modern eras in its Captain’s Garden.

On Tuesday, July 15, at 8:30 p.m., Professor Emanuela Murgia from the University of Trieste will deliver a lecture titled “Wall Painting from the Roman Era in Trieste and the Surrounding Region.” The talk is open to all and will be followed by a performance by the Trieste-based instrumental trio Lumen Harmonicum.

The addition of new venues and programming underscores the festival’s continued commitment to offering inclusive, high-quality cultural experiences across the city.
