On Sunday, June 22, the Immaginario Scientifico in Trieste will offer a special guided tour of the exhibition Archeoplastica, a project that frames plastic pollution through the lens of contemporary archaeology. The exhibit, housed in Magazzino 26 at Porto Vecchio, presents plastic waste collected along Italian beaches as “archaeological artifacts” of the modern age.
The tour, which begins at 4 p.m., invites visitors to explore the exhibition’s themes in greater depth. Created as an environmental outreach initiative, Archeoplastica aims to raise awareness about the persistence of plastic waste—especially marine debris—and its broader implications.
By examining discarded objects such as detergent bottles, toys, and packaging—some dating back decades—the exhibition encourages reflection on consumer habits, the lifecycle of plastic, and the visible and invisible toll of pollution on the environment. The visit also includes a localized perspective, highlighting the state of coastal pollution along the shores of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
The guided tour is included with the price of museum admission and does not require a reservation.
