Interview: FVG governor, Massimiliano Fedriga
The newly appointed acting secretary general of the Port of Trieste, Vittorio Torbianelli, was removed just one week after his nomination by special commissioner Antonio Gurrieri. The appointment had sparked controversy amid stalled political negotiations in Italy’s center-right coalition, delaying formal approvals for port leadership roles.
Gurrieri, brought in to oversee the port during this transitional period, cited the port’s geopolitical importance and the need for broad institutional support as reasons for reversing the decision.
Friuli Venezia Giulia Governor Massimiliano Fedriga declined to comment on the removal but praised Gurrieri as “an excellent choice” who would maintain continuity at the port.
