Trieste’s Line 2 tram system has experienced an unexpected disruption following the detection of a technical anomaly during routine maintenance this morning. A faulty component in the shield car of the system was identified, prompting an immediate assessment by technicians.
The technical review confirmed that the component must be replaced to ensure the tram system’s full functionality. The system, which has been inactive for nearly nine years, is now facing challenges that maintenance checks could not detect earlier. The prolonged downtime, coupled with the stresses of reactivation, has brought these issues to light.
Despite these setbacks, the company responsible for the tram’s maintenance has committed to swift repairs.
