This Saturday, Trieste’s PalaTrieste will host “Trieste Boxing Night VII,” a highly anticipated event that promises to showcase the city’s rich boxing heritage while making history in the process. For the first time, the Italian Professional Bantamweight Title will be contested in Trieste by two female boxers, marking a groundbreaking moment for the sport in the region.
The main event features Sara Lombardi, a Trieste native trained by Denis Conte and his team at ASD Ardita Trieste, squaring off against Annalisa Brozzi in a 10-round bout. Lombardi is poised to become the first woman from Trieste to contend for a national boxing title, an achievement that underscores the city’s commitment to fostering talent and embracing the evolving landscape of the sport.
“This is more than just a fight; it’s a celebration of Trieste’s boxing tradition and a bold step forward for women in the sport,” said Denis Conte, who also serves as the event organizer.
A Stellar Undercard
In addition to the headline bout, “Boxing Night VII” will feature three professional matches. Vittoria Parigi Bini, a former Italian champion, will face Annalisa Chilleri in a six-round fight, while Domenico Bentivogli, from the stable of former WBC World Cruiserweight Champion Massimiliano Duran, will take on Bosnian fighter Zarko Micic. Trieste’s own Gerardo Scalcione will return to the ring, following his triumphant knockout debut earlier this year.
The evening will also showcase a lineup of promising amateur fighters from the Friuli Venezia Giulia region and beyond. Participants include junior vice-champion Aristea Movio, alongside athletes from regional clubs and Slovenia.
A Tradition of Excellence
Trieste has long been a hub for boxing, producing champions who have left their mark on the sport. “This event celebrates not just the past but the future of boxing in Trieste,” said Conte. He emphasized the community’s growing enthusiasm, noting how last year’s event brought together families and young fans, reigniting passion for the sport.
Former world champion Massimiliano Duran, who will attend the event, praised the growing prominence of women in boxing. “Female boxers are incredible—they train with unmatched dedication and courage,” Duran said.

The event, organized by ASD Ardita Trieste and Boxe Duran, begins at 8:30 PM and promises an electrifying atmosphere for boxing fans. With a blend of professional and amateur talent, “Trieste Boxing Night VII” is set to be a landmark occasion not just for the city, but for the sport in Italy.
