After an exhilarating start to the season, Paul Matiasic, the owner of Pallacanestro Trieste, is riding high on the energy that his team has brought to both the court and the city. Following the team’s opening victory, Matiasic shared his thoughts on the game, the fans, and the expectations for the rest of the season.

“We’re really thrilled with the result on Sunday,” Matiasic said, reflecting on the emotional win. “Most prominently because of the interaction that our players had with the fans. To be able to give that type of pleasure to all the fans of Trieste was really wonderful. It was a great way to start the season.”

While the first win has certainly boosted morale, Matiasic is mindful of keeping expectations grounded. “They don’t give out any trophies for winning the first game, and we know it’s only one game, but it’s great to start off on the right foot. Our goal is to be competitive in every single game, and we were able to show that in Game 1.”

As Pallacanestro Trieste gears up for the rest of the season, Matiasic’s vision remains clear. “The goal is to be competitive each and every time we step on the floor, and to provide an entertainment product for the people of Trieste that’s exciting,” he said. “Yesterday was emblematic of the excitement our team can create, and hopefully, we’ll continue to bring that excitement, making the fans want to come and be there every Sunday.”

For Matiasic, it’s about more than just winning games—it’s about building a strong connection with the community and offering a thrilling experience for fans. As the season progresses, Trieste’s basketball fans can look forward to more high-energy games and a team that is determined to leave it all on the court.
