In a remarkable display of community spirit, a charity concert held in Trieste has raised more than €33,000 for the treatment of children from Gaza. The funds were generated through the “Nessun Dorma” musical evening, which took place at the MIB in Trieste on July 1st, and various other fundraising initiatives by the IRCCS Burlo Garofolo.
The event, organized in support of the Burlo Garofolo Foundation ETS, featured a star-studded lineup including tenor Fabio Andreotti, mezzo-soprano Sarvenaz Forghan, and actor Giuseppe Battiston. The performances were complemented by the expert direction of Lorenzo Acquaviva and Anna Godina. The evening was further highlighted by the presence of Sally Becker from Save a Child and Marino Andolina, adding a touch of international support to the cause.
Gabriele Cont, President of the Burlo Garofolo Foundation ETS, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people of Trieste. “Their generosity has made it possible to purchase necessary prosthetics and support all related activities,” Cont said. “These funds will enable us to adapt the prosthetics as the children grow, conduct regular check-ups, and meet other identified needs that support their overall health and well-being.”
Barbara Fari, who helped organize the event, praised its success. “The ‘Nessun Dorma’ charity event reached an extraordinary result,” she noted. “With a full house and generous donations, we can now cover expenses not covered by the National Health Service. The event was a professionally and emotionally exceptional experience, marking an important milestone for these children.”
The funds will be used to support the treatment of Gaza children at the IRCCS Burlo Garofolo, providing not only medical care but also crucial emotional and psychological support. The outpouring of support underscores the profound impact of community solidarity in addressing global humanitarian needs.
