On the morning of April 3rd, the President of the Region Massimiliano Fedriga and the Councillor for Labour, Training, Education and Family Alessia Rosolen offered an insight on the situation regarding the labor market of Friuli Venezia Giulia in 2023: in a period of international uncertainty, the industrial production is slowing down and the exports are decreasing, but the employment reduced by only 0.1% in the past year.

While female employment improves and with it the number of permanent contracts over temporary ones, the average age of the employed rises inexorably: workers up to 34 years of age account for only 22.4% of all employed in 2023.

Finding young workers is difficult, especially for seasonal employment contracts. Let’s see what restaurateurs in Trieste think about this.

I define myself as an unconventional expat: I lived in Budapest for five years and I recently moved back to Trieste. Today I look at my homeland with different eyes, I love to (re)discover places of my childhood or to find new spots around the region. Living abroad and traveling around made me an open-minded and tolerant person and my studies in foreign languages and journalism gave me the right amount of creativity and curiosity to never stop exploring.
