Every Saturday we’re spotlighting remarkable local females who could change the way we look at the world. This Saturday is Anna Vedeneeva’s turn, a stylist from Moscow with a taste for sustainable fashion and all things classy, like the city of Trieste itself.

Entrepreneur, personal stylist and shopper, and a mom to a 7-year old girl, Anna answered some of our pressing questions about fashion and life in Trieste.

First things first, how did you move to Trieste from Moscow? It sounds like quite a change.

Anna: Actually, I moved to Trieste from Florence where I lived for almost 6 years.

And why did you move to Florence?

For love. And to study at Polimoda fashion school.

Wonderful.

I studied design in Florence and also worked in Moscow managing a show-room with my business partner. Eventually, I realized I wanted to create my own signature collection and that’s what I did.

Fantastic

My first show was in Trieste and that was my first time in the city. I instantly fell in love with its elegant atmosphere and decided to buy a place here which I thought I would keep as a vacation home. Instead, after separating from my partner, this became my daughter’s and mine permanent address.

Describe your style in 3 words.

Effortless. Essential. Evolving.

What do you think about Triestine style?

I love it. Especially, the older generation style- very elegant and classy.

What’s your signature style?

Rose favors monochromatic looks in white, black, gray, tan and the occasional red, plus signature pieces like the long dramatic coat, cropped top, leather and suede separates and delicate jewelry.

What should every female have in her closet?

A white t-shirt, jeans and a blazer which suits her perfectly.

Go to evening look?

Leather pants, sexy blouse and statement coat with a red lip.

What’s your approach when you first start styling someone? Do you ask questions, go through their closet?

I meet with the client and from there we bounce ideas back and forth in terms of developing their signature aesthetic. Then, I go off to do more research and start curating a selection of garments and accessories that meet their needs.

Favorite look that you’ve styled to date?

Hard to say. There have been some good ones as of late.

How do you like to use color?

I love color but definitely have to be in a mood for it and it has to be something special. I’ve been into red lately. I do tend to stick to neutrals, it just always looks so chic.

Are you in the process of creating your new collection?

Yes, I have recently teamed up with a local creative and we are planning on opening an online store. But the big dream is to open a store in Trieste, with clothes made in Italy and designed by me. I would use only natural materials: cotton, linen, silk, wool, cashmere… everything that feels good on your skin.

Do you generally style for day to day as well as events?

I do both depending on how much my clients have going on.

What should girls steer clear of?

Unflattering clothes! Know your body and dress for your body type.

Is fashion important?

No. It’s important to know what fits you best and what looks good on you.

How can ladies contact you for fashion help?

They can follow me on instagram or send me an email anna.vedeneeva@gmail.com.
