More than 2,500 people took part in the sixth edition of FVG Pride in Udine on Saturday, gathering under clear autumn skies for a march focused on civil and social rights and opposition to discrimination.

The procession began at Moretti Park and moved through the city center under the slogan “Facing the Hostile Climate.” Three floats accompanied the march, carrying music, rainbow flags, banners and signs as participants walked, danced and sang through the streets.

Organizers said the event focused on several issues, including self-determination, with particular attention to transgender people; legal recognition of families and relationships of different kinds; education; and social and climate justice.

The event marked the return of FVG Pride to Udine a decade after the city hosted the first edition. The organization said this year’s march was also intended to draw attention to discrimination and the rights of LGBTQ+ people.

The decision by the Municipality of Udine to grant official patronage to the event had prompted political debate in the period leading up to the march, adding a local political dimension to an event centered on civil rights and inclusion.

The parade continued through the center of Udine, with music and performances accompanying participants along the route.
