The Municipality of Trieste has issued a public advisory regarding elevated ozone levels forecasted for the coming days. According to data from ARPA-FVG, the regional environmental protection agency, concentrations of ground-level ozone (O₃) are expected to exceed the official attention threshold of 120 micrograms per cubic meter beginning Wednesday, June 11.
The rise in ozone levels is linked to the week’s weather conditions, with concentrations anticipated to remain high for several days, temporarily declining before rising again starting Saturday, June 14.
The advisory, issued under the city’s Municipal Action Plan (Resolution No. 31, February 11, 2013), urges residents—particularly those in sensitive groups such as children, the elderly, and individuals with respiratory conditions—to take appropriate precautions to limit exposure. These include reducing prolonged outdoor activities during peak sunlight hours and staying indoors in well-ventilated or air-conditioned spaces when possible.
The Municipality also refers to guidance issued by the Trieste Local Health Authority in 2013, which outlines detailed recommendations for protecting health during episodes of high ozone pollution.
Authorities will continue to monitor air quality conditions and provide updates as necessary.
