Thousands of high school students from Italy and neighboring countries are visiting the University of Udine for its annual Student Day, an event aimed at introducing prospective students to the university’s academic programs and campus life.

The initiative, held at the university’s science campus, is expected to draw about 4,000 students in its first two days, with participants arriving from the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, nearby Veneto and several European countries including Austria, Croatia and Slovenia. Additional sessions are scheduled for March 13 and 14.

Visitors can learn about the university’s educational offerings, which include 42 undergraduate programs, 37 master’s degrees and three integrated master’s programs, along with the honors track offered by the Scuola Superiore Universitaria di Toppo Wassermann.

Speaking at the opening, Alessia Rosolen, the regional councillor responsible for education and universities, said the event also highlights regional initiatives designed to support students who choose to study and build careers locally.

According to regional officials, about €40 million has been allocated in 2025 for scholarships and student support, including housing placements and financial contributions for accommodation.

Regional authorities say the measures are part of a broader effort to strengthen higher education and research in Friuli Venezia Giulia while encouraging young people to remain in or relocate to the region for study and work.
