In honor of International Women’s Day, we spoke with four remarkable women in Friuli Venezia Giulia whose lives reflect the many ways leadership can take shape — in uniform, in business, in education and at home.
Among them is Ottavia Mossenta, a 38-year-old officer in the Carabinieri who has led the Carabinieri Company on Via Hermet in Trieste since 2022. In the media world, Francesca Busolini brings creativity and strategy to her role as head of marketing at Radio Punto Zero. In education, Rebecca Brown helps run the British School of Trieste, founded by her father, Peter Brown, continuing a family tradition tied to the city’s international community.
And then there is Myriam Grasset, originally from Paris, who moved to Duino with her husband and today dedicates herself full-time to raising their five children — a role she approaches with the same determination and sense of purpose as any executive position.
We asked each of them what it means to lead in their field, whether being a woman has ever been an obstacle — or an advantage — and what advice they would give to younger women hoping to follow in their footsteps. Their answers reveal different journeys but a shared message: confidence, resilience and the courage to carve out your own path.
