After days of relentless rain, the sun finally broke through the clouds on Ash Wednesday over Trieste, casting a golden sheen across the Adriatic. Office workers and residents streamed toward Molo Audace, the city’s beloved pier, eager for a long-awaited glimpse of light. During the lunch hour, coats unbuttoned and faces turned skyward as people lingered along the waterfront, some pausing for a quick espresso, others simply strolling at an unhurried pace.
