Schools, regional institutions, and corporations convened in Trieste at the Istituto Tecnico Statale Alessandro Volta to mark the third anniversary of the Carta di Lorenzo, a safety manifesto aimed at strengthening workplace safety culture. The initiative was established in memory of Lorenzo Parelli, a student who died in 2022 during a work-based learning placement.
The Carta di Lorenzo was first signed in 2023 by Lorenzo Parelli’s family, the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, schools, employers, trade unions, and other organisations. Its purpose is to promote a broad culture of safety in both educational and professional settings. The manifesto underscores the role of students, educators, and employers in safety planning, calling for student involvement in training design, improved coordination among tutors, and recognition for companies that demonstrate strong safety standards.
At the event, governor Massimiliano Fedriga reiterated the Region’s commitment to practical safety measures and collective engagement, including the use of technology and training. Regional Labour and Education Councillor Alessia Rosolen emphasized the importance of structured educational contributions to safety and collaboration among industry, schools, and civil society. Also present was Ambra Angiolini, an Italian actress and singer and a friend of the Parelli family.
Past participating organizations include national bodies such as Confindustria and Legacoop, reflecting broader institutional engagement beyond the regional level.
