The Italian government on Monday declared a state of emergency in response to severe weather that struck the provinces of Gorizia and Udine on November 16 and 17, 2025, allocating €8.5 million ($9 million) for initial relief efforts.

The announcement was made in a statement by Luca Ciriani, the minister for relations with Parliament, who is originally from Pordenone. The emergency measures will remain in effect for 12 months.

During the storm, the Judrio River overflowed, inundating the Versa and causing significant damage in the towns of Cormons and Dolegna del Collio. Landslides were also reported, including one that destroyed several homes in Brazzano. Two people were killed: Quirin Kuhnert and Guerrina Skocaj.

Officials said the funds would be used for immediate recovery operations and to support communities affected by the flooding and landslides.
