Marco Consalvo, the newly appointed president of the Port Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea, has outlined the main priorities of his mandate after more than 500 days without permanent leadership.
Consalvo said he inherited an administration slowed by delays and unresolved decisions and is now reviewing several strategic dossiers with Italy’s infrastructure and finance ministries, with a focus on securing funding and ensuring feasible timelines.
An early objective is the appointment of a new secretary general, expected by February. Consalvo described the role as essential to the authority’s effectiveness and said the choice will be based on professional complementarity and operational alignment.
On port activity, he pointed to early signs of recovery, including the return of transoceanic services by MSC following a recent decline in traffic. He also stressed the need to manage relations among shipping operators, particularly in the roll-on/roll-off sector, to protect capacity and support growth.
Consalvo said his leadership would be judged on results, as the port seeks to regain momentum after a prolonged period of uncertainty.
