Andrea Bocelli, the Italian tenor whose career has bridged opera and popular music, will be among the headline performers at the opening ceremony of the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games, organizers announced.
Mr. Bocelli, 67, is scheduled to appear alongside the American pop singer Mariah Carey and the Italian singer Laura Pausini at Milan’s San Siro stadium on Feb. 6. The appearance will mark a return to the Olympic stage for Mr. Bocelli, who performed Because We Believe at the closing ceremony of the 2006 Winter Games in Turin.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Bocelli has sung for three popes, several United States presidents and, most recently, at the coronation concert of King Charles III in 2023. The Olympic flame is currently touring Italy in the lead-up to the Games, which will be held across Milan, Cortina d’Ampezzo and other venues in northern Italy.
The closing ceremony, scheduled for Feb. 22, will take place at Verona’s ancient Roman Arena and is set to be headlined by the Italian ballet dancer Roberto Bolle.
