The city of Gorizia has inaugurated a new tourist information center in Piazza Vittoria, relocating the facility from its former site on Corso Italia as part of a broader regional effort to modernize visitor services across Friuli Venezia Giulia.
The new Infopoint, operated by PromoTurismoFVG, is housed in Palazzo Paternolli, in one of the city’s most central squares, a short distance from the recently opened Digital Art Gallery. Regional officials say the move is intended to improve visibility and accessibility for visitors while presenting a more contemporary image of the region.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Sergio Emidio Bini, the regional councillor for productive activities and tourism, described the new Infopoint as part of an ongoing restyling initiative aimed at making tourist offices across Friuli Venezia Giulia more welcoming and visually appealing. He said the modern design of the space reflects the region’s broader strategy to strengthen its tourism offer.
The inauguration was attended by Gorizia’s mayor, Rodolfo Ziberna, and the director of PromoTurismoFVG, Iacopo Mestroni. During the event, Mr. Bini pointed to recent growth in visitor numbers, which he linked to the momentum generated by Gorizia and Nova Gorica’s designation as European Capital of Culture 2025.
According to regional data, the municipality of Gorizia recorded more than 100,000 overnight stays between January and October, an increase of 25.2 percent compared with the same period last year. When including the surrounding Collio area and neighboring municipalities, overnight stays exceeded 500,000. Regional officials view these figures as evidence that recent promotional strategies are having a tangible impact.
The new Infopoint includes a reception and front-office area of approximately 25 square meters dedicated to visitor assistance, along with a separate office for administrative and operational activities. During the winter season, the center will be open every morning from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with afternoon hours from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
