The government of Friuli Venezia Giulia has introduced a wide-ranging package of financial measures as part of its latest budget amendment, allocating resources to cultural initiatives, family support programs and infrastructure improvements.
Governor Massimiliano Fedriga said the amendment, known locally as the “emendamento jolly,” carries an overall economic value of €85 million. Alongside €30 million designated for recent severe weather events and assigned to the Civil Protection agency, the measure includes substantial support for young mothers. Beginning in 2026, the region plans to allocate €32 million — and €139 million over three years — to women up to age 30 who decide to have a child.
The aid package for new mothers includes a grant of up to €40,000 toward the purchase of a first home. To qualify, recipients must have an ISEE income certification below €35,000, hold the regional Family Card, and be employed, studying or in training. Additional monthly subsidies will also be introduced: €500 per month during a child’s first year of life for mothers under 30, and €250 per month for those older than 30.
Barbara Zilli, the regional finance councillor, outlined further measures included in the stability law. Among them is an €8 million allocation to support preparations for Pordenone’s designation as Italy’s Capital of Culture in 2027, intended to fund related cultural programming and regional promotion.
The region will also direct new resources toward commemorating the 50th anniversary of the 1976 earthquake, which devastated parts of Friuli. The funding will support both cultural initiatives and the organization of memorial events.
Zilli added that the amendment introduces a dedicated design and planning fund for scuole paritarie, or state-recognized private schools. The fund aims to facilitate seismic improvements, expansions and new construction across the regional network of educational institutions.
