The Bishop of Trieste, Monsignor Enrico Trevisi, together with the diocesan Caritas, has announced a prayer vigil on Friday, December 5, at 8 p.m. at the Church of Sant’Antonio Taumaturgo. The event, proposed by the Community of Sant’Egidio, invites both members of the local faith community and the broader public.

The vigil will commemorate a young man of Algerian origin who was found dead in Porto Vecchio, as well as three other young migrants recently discovered deceased in the region. Organizers describe the gathering as a moment for communal reflection and remembrance, highlighting the risks faced by migrants traveling through northeastern Italy.

Local faith groups have been active in supporting migrants and advocating for their safety. They emphasize that the vigil offers the community a space to honor the victims and reflect on the human impact of ongoing migration challenges.

Attendance is open to all residents.
