On November 22 and 23, 2025, the Salone degli Incanti will open its doors to a two-day live art event dedicated to J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings. From 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., 36 artists will work on site, creating illustrated sequences inspired by scenes from the iconic trilogy.
The initiative accompanies the exhibition “Tolkien. Man, Professor, Author,” currently on view in the same space. Visitors will be able to observe three groups of illustrators from Trieste’s Accademia del Fumetto as they develop extended visual sequences drawn from each of the trilogy’s three volumes.
One group will depict the Fellowship’s descent into the Mines of Moria, including the frantic escape and the encounter with the Balrog from The Fellowship of the Ring. A second team will focus on the Battle of Helm’s Deep from The Two Towers. The final group will illustrate the climactic scenes of The Return of the King, culminating on Mount Doom with the destruction of the Ring and the ensuing collapse of Sauron’s realm.
The event offers visitors an opportunity to watch the artistic process unfold in real time and to engage more deeply with Tolkien’s enduring literary world.
