The Salone degli Incanti in Trieste will host a series of events this weekend as part of the ongoing exhibition “Tolkien. Uomo, Professore, Autore,” on display through January 11, 2026. The three-day program offers talks, workshops, and illustrated explorations of the life and works of J.R.R. Tolkien.

On Friday, November 14, at 5:30 p.m., the auditorium will feature “Tolkien in Pop Culture,” presented by La Cappella Underground. Stefano Giorgianni will examine how Tolkien’s imagination has influenced music, tracing its impact from black metal to epic power metal. The event is free to attend, subject to seating availability.

Saturday, November 15, from 10 a.m. to noon, the Accademia di Fumetto, Arti Grafiche, Design e Moda di Trieste will host a workshop titled “The Peoples of Middle-earth,” offering drawing and character design activities for children and teenagers aged 8 to 14. Participants will explore Tolkien’s work through guided creative exercises. Attendance is free with prior reservation at 3294260296. Additional workshops are scheduled for November 29 (Orcs and Trolls), December 6 (Dragons and Nazgûl), and December 13 (Wizards and Sorcerers).

On Sunday, November 16, from 4 to 6 p.m., illustrator Francesco Mattioli will lead a session titled “Journeys in Middle-earth: Mapping Imaginary Worlds.” The talk will trace the evolution of Tolkien’s cartography, from the author’s own sketches to interpretations by various artists across the years. Admission is free until capacity is reached.

The exhibition and accompanying program provide an opportunity for visitors to engage with Tolkien’s enduring influence across literature, music, and visual arts.
