A longstanding weekend tradition returns to the il Giulia shopping center as the historic secondhand and antique market once again opens its stalls. On Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 1 and 2, visitors will be able to browse a curated selection of vintage goods, collectibles and artisan creations in the public gallery areas of the center on Via Giulia. The market runs from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., with free admission.

Organized by the cultural association Cose di vecchie case, the market has been a fixture of Trieste life since 1996. Held on the first weekend of each month, it draws exhibitors from across the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, offering items that range from small antiques and modern design pieces to handmade crafts.

While the event appeals to collectors and enthusiasts of vintage objects, it has also found an audience among those interested in sustainable consumption and reuse. Wooden ornaments, ceramic pieces, glassware, embroidered linens and other handcrafted objects are typically featured alongside vinyl records, comic books, miniature models and memorabilia.

The market provides an opportunity for visitors to explore objects from past decades — pieces often described by organizers as everyday items that have regained value and character after emerging from attics and storage trunks. For some, it is a chance to find a distinctive gift; for others, an opportunity to revisit memories through familiar household items.

The monthly gathering continues to serve as a weekend destination for relaxed browsing and what organizers describe as a “small treasure hunt” experience.

The next edition will be held on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 6 and 7.
