The Friuli Venezia Giulia regional government announced three new funding programs aimed at encouraging the renovation and modernization of private tourist accommodations, responding to a growing demand for quality lodging in the region. The total budget for the initiatives amounts to €3.1 million, with applications open until October 15.

According to Sergio Emidio Bini, the regional councillor for Productive Activities and Tourism, the grants are intended to support property owners in upgrading furnished units for tourist use, including those in mountain areas and locations participating in the “GO! 2025” cultural initiative.

“The incentive has been well received since its first introduction in 2021, providing around 2,000 new or refurbished beds, mainly in Grado, Lignano, and mountain areas, often through the ‘albergo diffuso’ model,” Bini said.

The programs are divided into three categories:

  1. Grants for owners of furnished tourist units across the region.
  2. Grants for owners of tourist units in municipalities involved in the “GO! 2025” initiative, including Palmanova.
  3. Grants for renovation and modernization of mountain properties to be used within the ‘albergo diffuso’ network.

For the first two categories, individual grants range from €10,000 to €20,000 per unit, with a maximum of four units per applicant. Beneficiaries must place and maintain the units on the rental market through registered real estate agencies.

The “GO! 2025”–focused program has a total allocation of €300,000, while the regional program covering other municipalities is funded at approximately €2 million. Bini noted that the initiative aims to support the renewed tourism potential of the Gorizia area, boosted by its status as a European Capital of Culture.

The ‘albergo diffuso’ program is allocated €800,000. Eligible applicants must be individual property owners in mountain areas and must enter into a bilateral agreement with the local albergo diffuso to commit the property to a management contract for at least ten years. Grant amounts mirror those of the other programs, ranging from €10,000 to €20,000 per unit for up to four units per applicant.

All three programs allow funding for renovation, expansion, maintenance, and the purchase of furnishings and equipment. Applications can be submitted from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15, 2025, exclusively via the regional government’s “Istanze On Line (IOL)” system.
