This fall, Trieste will inaugurate its first festival dedicated to fitness, health and well-being. Let’s Move Trieste is scheduled to take place from September 12 to 14, 2025, transforming the city’s historic Porto Vecchio–Porto Vivo area into a hub of sports, entertainment and community gatherings.

The three-day event, organized by Pro Loco Trieste in partnership with the city government and several local sports associations, was presented this week at City Hall. Officials described it as an initiative designed to promote healthy living while also celebrating social connection.

The Generali Convention Center will serve as the festival’s main venue, with its indoor halls, outdoor terraces and panoramic spaces hosting a full program of free activities. Offerings will range from triathlon events and cardio challenges to group fitness classes, nutrition workshops and expert-led talks on wellness.

Special highlights will include the Bavisela Summer Family Run, a charity race supporting Trieste’s Burlo Garofolo Children’s Hospital, and the Night Run, a nighttime race accompanied by live DJs. Beyond sport, organizers promise a festival atmosphere, with music, entertainment and a large food area open to families and visitors of all ages.

According to city councillor Everest Bertoli, the festival has already drawn more than 3,000 participants. “Porto Vivo is becoming more alive every day,” he said, noting that the event is intended not only for athletes but also for residents who might be new to sports. Councillor Elisa Lodi, who oversees sports policy, added that the collaboration with local associations and the Burlo Garofolo foundation ensured that the event would combine health promotion with solidarity.

Festival organizers say their aim is to “bring sport out of the gyms and into the city,” offering an opportunity for Trieste to showcase itself as a dynamic and welcoming community.

The program will open Friday evening with a DJ-led celebration, continue Saturday with a full schedule of activities and a late-night party in collaboration with Trieste Cocktail Week, and close Sunday with races, competitions and a final music event.
