The maritime route connecting Trieste and Muggia has surpassed 100,000 passengers since the beginning of 2025, marking a significant milestone for daily mobility in the region. Operated by Trieste Trasporti and serviced by Delfino Verde Navigazione vessels, the route is part of the regional public transport system Tpl Fvg.
The 100,000th passenger was identified as a long-time Muggia resident who has relied on the service for over two decades to commute to work. In recognition, the passenger received two complimentary 50-trip passes for the maritime line, along with a vacation to Greece. The gesture highlighted the role of the service not just as a tourist attraction but as a vital aspect of everyday life for many residents.
The achievement comes amid several updates introduced in 2025, including the addition of a new, higher-capacity vessel equipped with expanded bicycle storage. Since January, the line has already transported more than 5,000 bicycles. Evening sailings, launched on June 14 and running through September 14, have also contributed to increased usage.
Officials noted that the route continues to play a growing role in regional connectivity, blending scenic maritime transport with practical commuting solutions.
