Beginning Friday, July 18, the Ariston Cinema in Trieste will present the full screening of The Trilogy of Relationships, the acclaimed and award-winning film series by Norwegian director and writer Dag Johan Haugerud. The trilogy, composed of the films SexDreams, and Love, offers an introspective and poetic exploration of modern human connection, intimacy, and emotional complexity.

The three-part cinematic work has garnered critical acclaim across Europe for its subtle narrative style and nuanced portrayal of contemporary relationships.

The first installment, Sex (2024), premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival earlier this year. The film examines themes of desire, sexual identity, and the often ambiguous nature of attraction.

Dreams (Drømmer, 2024), which won the prestigious Golden Bear at the 2025 Berlinale, continues the thematic journey, delving into the emotional landscapes of its characters and exploring the tension between aspirations and reality.

The final chapter, Love, rounds out the trilogy with a contemplative look at long-term connection, vulnerability, and the quiet resilience required to sustain affection over time.

Known for his restrained yet emotionally rich storytelling, Haugerud has established himself as a distinctive voice in contemporary Scandinavian cinema. With The Trilogy of Relationships, he offers audiences a layered and thought-provoking portrait of intimacy in the 21st century.

The screenings at the Ariston Cinema mark a rare opportunity for Italian audiences to experience the trilogy in its entirety on the big screen.
