In just ten days, registration will close for one of the city’s most beloved and unconventional summer events: the 18th edition of the Olimpiade dele Clanfe, set to take place on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the historic seaside bathing establishment “Ausonia” on Riva Traiana.

Organized by the local civic group SPIZ Associazione di Promozione Sociale, the event has become a fixture of Trieste’s cultural calendar. Far from a traditional diving competition, the Olimpiade dele Clanfe is a celebration of splash, spectacle, and humor.

Participants of all ages—from children to senior citizens—will take turns leaping from platforms in outlandish fashion, aiming not for technical perfection but for maximum water displacement and crowd approval. Creativity, comedic flair, and sheer splash volume are the primary metrics of success.

The competition is inclusive by design, welcoming a broad array of categories that reflect local dialect and humor, including PiciMuletiMuliMati, and even UFOs—reserved for the most acrobatic and unconventional entries.

Now in its 18th year, the event has grown from a niche gathering into a signature expression of Trieste’s playful spirit, drawing both loyal locals and curious onlookers from beyond the region.

Registration remains open until July 25, with participants encouraged to bring both courage and creativity to the diving board.
