The Municipality of Trieste and the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza signed a memorandum of understanding on Friday aimed at enhancing cooperation and improving the exchange of information related to financial oversight and investigative matters.
The agreement was formalized during a ceremony at the Salotto Azzurro in Trieste’s City Hall. Mayor Roberto Dipiazza and Brigadier General Michele Pallini, head of the local Guardia di Finanza command, signed the document in the presence of Brigadier General Fabrizio Nieddu, Regional Commander for Friuli Venezia Giulia.
The protocol is designed to strengthen the joint effort to prevent unlawful activities, particularly those potentially linked to the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), Italy’s EU-funded post-pandemic investment program. Officials emphasized the need for efficient and reciprocal information-sharing to support oversight and accountability in the management of public resources.
The collaboration will focus on streamlining procedures for data exchange between the city administration and financial authorities, with the aim of increasing transparency across a wide range of municipal and regional initiatives.
