Air travelers in Italy are likely to face significant disruption on Thursday, July 10, as airport ground staff across the country stage a 24-hour walkout, with budget airline easyJet’s Italy-based crews also set to strike.

The industrial action, organized by several trade unions, will involve employees of Assohandlers, a company that provides ground handling services at Italian airports. The strike is expected to affect operations such as check-in and baggage handling at key airports, including Milan Malpensa, Milan Linate, Naples, Venice, and Cagliari.

Unions have cited demands for improved working conditions, better contractual terms, and higher wages as the primary reasons behind the protest. They are also expressing concern over recent corporate restructuring within the sector.

In a separate dispute, easyJet’s Italy-based pilots and cabin crew will also participate in a nationwide 24-hour strike on the same day. The walkout could lead to delays and cancellations on routes operated by the British low-cost carrier.

Passengers flying with easyJet to or from Italy on July 10 are advised to consult the “Manage Booking” section of the airline’s official website and monitor emails and app notifications for any updates.

The Italian Civil Aviation Authority ENAC has reminded travelers that, under national regulations, certain flights are guaranteed to operate during strikes between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., and from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Travelers are encouraged to check directly with their airline or airport for the latest information.
