The municipal government of Trieste has announced the forthcoming publication of a public competition to fill 16 permanent part-time teaching positions in the city’s preschools. The roles specifically pertain to support teachers — educators with training to assist children with special educational needs.

The positions, offered on a “vertical part-time” basis of 11 months, are part of Trieste’s broader efforts to strengthen early childhood education and inclusive learning environments.

According to the municipal notice, applicants will be required to hold one of several qualifying degrees or certifications. These include:

  • A degree in Primary Education Sciences with a specialization in Preschool Education, awarded prior to education reforms (recognized as a teaching qualification under Article 6 of Law 169/2008);
  • A degree in Primary Education Sciences, class LM-85 bis (also recognized under the same legal provision);
  • Teaching diplomas obtained by the 2001–2002 academic year, in accordance with the Ministerial Decree of March 10, 1997.

Further details regarding application deadlines, evaluation procedures, and the full eligibility criteria will be made available with the official publication of the job notice in the coming days.

The initiative aligns with Trieste’s ongoing investment in accessible and equitable education for young learners, especially those requiring specialized support.

The official announcement and application form will be published in the “Public Competitions” section of the City of Trieste’s online portal:
