The Friuli Venezia Giulia regional government has approved a summer budget adjustment package valued at more than €860 million (approximately $920 million), with the possibility of additional allocations before final approval in the Regional Council in late July.

The budget revision, approved by the regional cabinet on Wednesday morning, is designed to reinforce key sectors including public safety, transportation, education infrastructure, and environmental sustainability.

“This is a package that focuses on investments aimed at providing concrete responses to the region’s needs across all sectors,” said Barbara Zilli, Regional Councillor for Finance, following the cabinet meeting. “Particular attention is being paid to strategic works such as the southern bypass of Udine, and to measures that support local communities.”

The adjustment is part of a broader financial strategy that has been in place since the previous legislature, with the aim of strengthening long-term structural investments. Zilli noted that environmental initiatives remain a priority, with significant funding earmarked for regional energy communities, flood risk mitigation, and the maintenance of waterways.

The plan also includes continued support for the installation of photovoltaic systems to benefit private citizens, businesses, public institutions, and non-profit organizations.

The budget adjustment will now proceed through the legislative process in the regional council, where further discussions and potential amendments are expected in the coming weeks.
