Trieste will welcome hundreds of walking enthusiasts next weekend as it hosts the 18th edition of the International Nordic Walking Festival & Camp. The event, set to take place from June 13 to 15, was officially presented on Monday during a press conference at City Hall.

The announcement was made in the presence of city and regional officials, including Trieste’s Councillor for Sport Elisa Lodi, Regional Councillor for Local Autonomies and Security Pierpaolo Roberti, Trieste Atletica President Pompeo Tria, CONI Regional Councilor Renato Pelissoni, and Bruno Vittori, head of the Nordic Walking section of Trieste Atletica and representative of the Italian School of Nordic Walking.

The festival is organized by Trieste Atletica and the Italian School of Nordic Walking, in collaboration with the Municipality of Trieste and with the patronage of the Municipality of Sgonico. The initiative is supported by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region under the “Io sono FVG” brand.

“Trieste hosts many events throughout the year, and when Trieste Atletica is involved, we know it will be a success,” said Councillor Lodi. She emphasized the festival’s potential to bring visibility to the territory and praised Nordic walking as a sport accessible to all ages and easily practiced in nature. “I believe the event will also have a positive economic impact on the city,” she added.

The three-day event is expected to draw participants from across Italy and abroad, highlighting the growing popularity of Nordic walking and offering an opportunity to explore Trieste’s landscape through a variety of outdoor routes and activities.
