In an effort to promote closer collaboration between the sports world and the business community, regional officials gathered in Trieste on Sunday to present the upcoming Sport Business Forum 2025, a multi-day festival designed to bring elite athletes, entrepreneurs, and the general public together in conversation.

Speaking at the launch event, Fabio Scoccimarro, Regional Councilor for the Environment, praised the initiative for aligning with the region’s broader administrative goals. “This is an initiative that fully supports the region’s strategy by encouraging entrepreneurial engagement in promoting sports and wellness,” Scoccimarro said. “Bringing top athletes into contact with the public remains a powerful source of inspiration—especially for young people.”

The Sport Business Forum, now preparing for its second edition in Veneto from June 5–8, aims to create new opportunities for interaction between the sports sector and the business world. Organizers hope the event will foster innovative partnerships and reinforce the role of sport as a vehicle for community engagement and economic development.

Ahead of the main event, Trieste will host a two-day preview titled “Anteprima Sport Business Forum” on May 29–30, offering panels, exhibitions, and networking opportunities intended to spotlight local initiatives and set the tone for the festival.

Scoccimarro also used the occasion to outline regional projects designed to deepen Trieste’s ties with the sporting world. Chief among them is the planned revitalization of the Barcola seafront, an area heavily impacted by severe storms in November 2023.

“The reconstruction plan not only addresses coastal safety,” he said, “but also seeks to enhance the area’s recreational and sports infrastructure.” Proposed developments include a new water polo arena and protective installations near the rocky coastline to support rowing and other aquatic sports.

“These investments affirm our commitment to sports facilities as vital community assets,” Scoccimarro added.

The upcoming events in Trieste and Veneto form part of a broader strategy to position sport as a driver of both social cohesion and regional identity.
