Antonio Gurrieri will be the new president of the Eastern Adriatic Sea Authority, following a formal communication received by the President of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, Massimiliano Fedriga, from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport on the evening of April 24. The communication confirmed the ministerial agreement regarding Gurrieri’s nomination, along with four other new presidents of port authorities.
This marks the beginning of the official process for Gurrieri’s appointment. As expected, the Region will likely give its consent. The nomination will then require a non-binding opinion from the relevant committees of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate. Afterward, the nomination will return to Infrastructure Minister Matteo Salvini’s desk for the final signature on the appointment decree.
Gurrieri, who currently serves as the General Secretary of the Eastern Adriatic Sea Authority, will take on the role from the current extraordinary commissioner, Vittorio Torbianelli.
“I am honored by the trust placed in me,” Gurrieri said in a brief statement. “I now await the next steps in the process before the official appointment.” Gurrieri’s term will last four years, although due to age restrictions, it will not be eligible for renewal.
