The second edition of “Trieste: Literary Crossroads” returns this October, running through May 2025, showcasing the city’s diverse cultural legacy through literature and cuisine. Organized by Ubik Bookstore, the series will feature authors and scholars from across Friuli Venezia Giulia, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Albania, and Greece. Topics range from contemporary fiction to reflections on living in a border city with a complex history of migration and coexistence.

New this year is a culinary component, “Trieste: A Port of Flavors,” organized with Drogheria 28. The program highlights the city’s rich gastronomic past—focusing on coffee, olive oil, wine, and spices—through talks with historians, chefs, and tastings of historic recipes from the region’s communities.

Key events include a discussion on Slovenian cuisine on October 22 and an exploration of Trieste’s olive oil history on November 22. The series combines literary discussions with culinary experiences to celebrate the city’s unique blend of Central European, Balkan, and Adriatic influences.
