If you haven’t been to Udine yet, there’s a great excuse to do so this weekend to visit the annual ‘Friuli Doc’ feast in its 20th edition taking over the city until Sunday night, 10 September.
One of the most fascinating characteristics of Friuli Doc is the possibility of savoring well 150 specialties of the Friulian tradition, thus celebrating the variety of gastronomy of this rich territory. Visitors will be spoiled for choice among Godia gnocchi, Carnic cjarsons, Tarvisio deer, San Daniele ham, Carpacco frico and the fish delicacies of Trieste.
Udine’s Piazza Garibaldi makes its debut, hosting the Trieste fishermen’s cooperative, the Ars di Carpacco with the famous frico, the Pro loco Vermigliano with the delicious Carsoline pastecreme and specialties based on Isonzo meat, and the Aries Venice Chamber of Commerce Giulia with a cooking show based on oily fish. And the protagonist of the moment could not be missing, the blue crab. There will also be a stand dedicated to celiacs.
