The Civic Museum of Natural History in Trieste will host a four-day educational program focused on the region’s unique dinosaur fossils, offering activities in both Italian and English. From Wednesday, July 23, through Saturday, July 26, visitors can take part in interactive sessions held daily from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the museum’s paleontology wing.

Leading the initiative is Mattia Greco, a paleontology enthusiast and member of the cultural volunteer association Cittaviva. Greco will be available to guide visitors through the history and scientific significance of the “Karst dinosaurs” — notably Antonio and Bruno — discovered at the paleontological site of Villaggio del Pescatore in Duino Aurisina, just outside Trieste.

These dinosaurs, among the best-preserved specimens in the world, belong to a new genus identified by scientists as Tethyshadros insularis. Alongside other fossils found at the site, they offer rare insights into the Cretaceous period and the geological history of the ancient Tethys Sea.

The program is designed for families and will include hands-on learning activities and educational talks, aimed at deepening public understanding of the region’s prehistoric past. Organizers hope the bilingual format will make the experience accessible to both local and international visitors.
