Trieste’s Cinema Ariston will host a full slate of events on Sunday, March 22, featuring award-winning films, a celebrated Almodóvar classic, and live music at Spazio Underground.

The day begins with a double screening at 3 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. of two recent Oscar recipients. Sentimental Value, directed by Joachim Trier, was honored with the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film, while Paul Thomas Anderson’s Una battaglia dopo l’altra received Oscars for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor, Editing, and Casting.
At 5:30 p.m., the cinema continues its ongoing retrospective on Pedro Almodóvar, presenting Tacchi a spillo in its original language. The film, which explores themes of desire and psychological tension, remains one of the Spanish director’s most acclaimed works.
Meanwhile, live performances return to Spazio Underground. At 6 p.m., Sunday Blues presents Marco Pandolfi, a veteran blues and ballad singer with 13 albums to his name. Pandolfi has performed across the United States, including in Pennsylvania, Mississippi, Texas, California, and Arizona, sharing the stage with artists such as Richard Ray Farrell, Paul Oscher, Bob Margolin, and Greg Izor. He has also appeared at the Folk Studio in Rome and the Orpheum Theater in Graz. His upcoming release on the Swiss label EPOPS features new material blending blues influences with introspective storytelling.
With a combination of critically acclaimed cinema and live music, March 22 promises a culturally rich experience for Trieste audiences.
