The National Alpine and Speleological Rescue Corps (CNSAS) of Friuli Venezia Giulia has received a new specialized van to strengthen its operational capacity across the region, including the Isontino area and the province of Trieste. The vehicle replaces a Fiat Ducato that had been in service since 1996, according to CNSAS.

The van was purchased through a €50,000 donation from Fondazione Casali ETS. Francesco Slocovich, president of the foundation, said: “Through donations such as this, we aim to support the local area and stand by the community.”

Sergio Buricelli, president of the Regional Alpine Rescue Service for Friuli Venezia Giulia, stated: “The vehicle is a tangible sign of the collaboration between volunteers, local authorities, institutions, and families, without whose support these initiatives would not be possible.”

The new vehicle is a Ford Transit Custom 4×4 with automatic transmission and seating for nine. It has been configured for rough terrain and adapted for specialised rescue missions. According to CNSAS, it is equipped with additional warning lights, front and rear flashers, an acoustic signalling system, and a roof-mounted VHF/GP radio antenna. It also includes an auxiliary battery with 220V, 12V, and USB outlets to power technical equipment during operations.

The handover ceremony took place in Piazza Unità in the presence of local authorities and representatives of the organizations involved.
