In Trieste, at 5 p.m. today in Largo Panfili, a performance art event marked Italy’s Giornata del Ricordo, the Day of Remembrance. Promoted by the Academy of Fine Arts of Reggio Calabria and the Ministry of Universities and Research, and co-organized with the City of Trieste, the initiative served as a preview of a larger installation scheduled to be unveiled in March.
Organizers said the idea originated with two young students and described the performance as one component of a broader artistic project. Trieste was selected as the first site because of its symbolic link to historical suffering. The work reflects on memory as a necessary foundation for the future, using art to transform remembrance into a shared civic experience.
